Silva Nigra - St. Blasien

One of the best restaurants in the area with excellent food prepared by a "passionate" cook that uses fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden, near mushrooms and good meat from the region. The place is operated by only two people, which explains the limited capacity to accommodate more guests. Moreover, it is usually visited by locals in the area, so it is often impossible to get a table as a walkable visitor. P. S. As locals from Singapore and Asia and in other parts of the world, I find Silva Nigra as one of the best I have ever tried. Hat to cook!

Compared to other places in St Blasien, this place is characterized by regional cuisine with fresh ingredients. The place is made by a friendly couple (he is in the kitchen, she does in front of the house). We came after Christmas when only a small selection of dishes was on the menu. Before the starter arrived, we received a small Amuse Bouche, which was very tasty, the starters were also very good. Quality of the net was OK, not excellent. The dessert selection plate was delicious. Surely worth a visit if you're in the area.

A group of 6 of us (plus a fussy baby had an excellent meal at Silva Nigra, it is clear why this is the top hit on tripadvisor for the area. The food was ideal; between us we tried most of what was on the menu and found it all tasty and creative without relying on salt/stock for the flavours. The service was great, we had some translation provided by the chef, also some good wine recommendations, and help at keeping our fussiest party member fed and calm. And although we stayed past the usual closing time, we were well treated the whole night. It was a real pleasure, and certainly a place where they care about your experience! (which is not something you can always expect as tourist in this part of the world.
