Bidra med feedbackThe menu indicates a veggie burger that is V/GF but the server had no idea if it was either. He said there is no gluten free bread options even though this option is said to be gf right on the menu. The side is pasta salad, also no idea if that could be made gf and he was not interested in finding out what other side might be gf and vegan. He reluctantly went to inquire if the veggie burger was vegan and gluten free after telling me he didn 't know what kind they were or if they were made in house, just said and they are frozen. He came back and said it is. I clarified if he meant it is both vegan and gf and he shrugged. Long story longer, what he brought me was a seemingly homemade bean patty of sorts, pink in color, with what I can only assume was salmon. Even if it wasn 't salmon or some kind of fish, it was completely inedible. What a disappointment! The service and food... Just all around disappointment and very concerning.
The food was good, but nothing to rave about. The tofu wasn’t seasoned at all just thrown into the sauce. Also had a hummus plate which was decent and filling. Our server was great though and very accommodating.
I ordered the Portobello Melt w/pasta salad an order of fries. The food was good but the customer service needs work. My husband and I walked in and were greeted as if we didn’t belong in the restaurant. We were sat and a waitress acknowledged our presence saying she would return to get our drink orders. 15 minutes later she returned not to our table but to a table beside who came in after us and took their orders. I was very surprised when she walked back to our table and asked, has no one been over to help you? I said no ma’am. She replied I asked one of the other waitresses to help you. Wow she said. As if she couldn’t believe no one came over. She then took our drink and food orders in which she said I’ll make sure I place your order in front of the other couples. My husband and I are moving to the areas in May. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Gypsy Cab is a longtime staple for St. Augustine locals. Their menu changes daily, but they are willing to prepare dishes to order if they are not on the daily menu and they have the ingredients on hand. Lots of vegetarian options are available and solid vegan options, as well. Their house dressing is a legendary garlic and nutritional yeast masterpiece. Get the house salad with blackened tofu or the coconut crusted tofu dinner! They also make a bomb martini.
Saw this highly reviewed, in a less busy area of town it’s cute and quirky. Portions were good, food was not great: chicken was tough but with good flavor, rice was undercooked and hard, beans were tough. Service was good (we went in the early afternoon). There’s DRM free lofi R B playing, art from local artists on the walls for sale.
