Bidra med feedbackThe atmosphere here was spectacular! Be sure to check the weather station on your way in to the bar. We had some great pints and spectacular Fish and Chips. The service was slow to say the least....but the location is superb.
By far the BEST BURGER in town! One of my favourites in St. Andrews! Good atmosphere and clean. The smashed burger is the very best burger in town! Excellent chips and great value.
While recently in St. Andrews, Diane and I enjoyed an excellent lunch at this fine gastro pub opposite the Links at St. Andrews. In fact, we were able to see live pro golf action during the British Women's Invitational on the famed Old Course happening directly outside a picture window. After ordering steamed mussels in a light creamy broth, I was astounded to receive an enormous mound of crustaceans. Although 5 mussels had failed to open, there were 76 overall! (Yes, I counted them. That was more than twice the number I have received anywhere else in the world. And, the mussel meat and broth were both tasty. So was at least a quarter pound burger with melted Cheddar Cheese and bacon that was gooey and fell apart nicely inside the soft bun. Accompanying fries were also excellent, and Diane savored her moist Fish n Chips, the best she experienced while in the British Isles. Service was swift, and servers were friendly and efficient. This is a place to which I would gladly return! 4-1/2 stars!
We recently had dinner here as part of a larger group. I give kudo's to the manager for finding a way to squeeze in our group, as the place was fairly full and all the open tables were suitable only for 2-3 people. And the atmosphere is nice and casual, very easy place to relax. And no surprise a very golfer vibe to the place. Service was also good, not great, but what one would expect. The food was a letdown. Except for the fish and chips, no one else in our party found their meals to be very good. I had the curry, which was really bland and a very small portion. A couple others had burgers and sandwiches which were very average. The most disappointing part is that the burgers/sandwiches came with flimsy American-style french fries, while the fish and chips came with proper looking UK chips. Every other pub I've been to in UK serves real chips with their burgers and sandwiches. If all you want is a place to unwind with a drink after a day on the links, then this place is A-Ok. But recommend dining elsewhere.
The servers here seem lost and all over the place. Ask 2-3 times to get everything etc. the best thing I saw come out of the kitchen was the entree salads. The rest of the entrees were meh.
