Bidra med feedbackHad a lovely weekend stay with my wife. Food and service was excellent. Would definitely stay again.Little advice, bar toilets do need a revamp.

We enjoyed our visit at this pub, particularly in the outdoor seating area with its delightful surroundings. However, I have given it a 3-star rating due to my disappointment with the haddock and chips. The batter lacked crispness and the fish itself was too soft and mushy, indicating that it may have been a low-quality frozen product rather than fresh. Service was a bit too slow too. We had to ask the staff 2 times before they served us.
Beautiful Pub in St. Albans and one of the UK's oldest pub. Small rooms so you have to duck! Plenty of charm and great character. Drinks wise well.. ordered one beer one shandy (pints) I small coke crisps £15. And make sure you get a full pint after all every drop helps . Service could be better as I was standing at bar and 3 to 4 staff came past behind the bar and never said a thing apart from a fluffy layered haired chap who was very friendly. Great place to stop after some long dog walking and to take in the beautiful history this pub has.
Pros : Good views Amazing ambience Friendly and helpful staff Cons : Expensive (Almost London prices...why?? Food was so so... Pork in Sunday roast was a little tough. Prawns on the grill were tasteless. Only thing I enjoyed was the humus and chips. Garlic bread, lacked in garlic flavour. (6.5/10
