La Taverna Di Pepe Di Sestito Aurelio

My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary by an early trip to Calabria. We visited Squillace recently due to its pottery. We were walking around the center of the city and walked by Taverna Di Pepe and went in for lunch. It was late and were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered the house antipasto for 4 as we were traveling with another couple. It did not disappoint except for the fact that it was too big and didn't get a chance to sample some pasta. It was reasonably priced. My wife and I decided to go back the next evening as we were coming home from a day trip so we went for dinner and ordered the antipasto again and I also saved room for the pasta carbonara which was very good. While in the restaurant there was a group of Italian men eating and drinking. They were planning for a celebration that they have every March which include a big parade with floats. They showed us videos and pictures. It seems like a lot of fun and my wife is thinking about going back for it. A good local place that is reasonably priced. If in the area again we will eat there again without a doubt.

Tucked down the traditional squillace side road Taverna Di Pepe was a great find, unlike the tourist restaurants providing Italian meals this restaurant is honest to its traditional and local foods and offered a delicious menu selection. Recommended to all. Very friendly and great value
