The Breakfast House - Spokane Valley

I have dined at this business a number of times. I've had no real problems. The service and meal portions are decent with most of the food being nicely prepared and of good quality. My only real complaint is the hash-browns. I'm unsure if the owners is buying the potatoes pre-shredded and then grills them, but that method is producing a substandard product in my opinion. I do cook myself quite a bit and consider myself a good cook with a discerning palate. I have dined everywhere from Canada, Mexico, across the USA and Europe, including South Ireland, England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and more. I would make the suggestion that the owner switch to a home-style potato instead of shredded. Boil them first, then grill them with whatever seasonings, bringing them to a nice light crispy brown on the outside. The other method he's using produces a soggy oily product that is passing marginally at best. This is the sole reason I don't dine there anymore. I have to be honest, hash browns prepared that method are just plain disappointing. I used to have breakfast every Sunday at Shari's until they started cutting portion sizes and bringing my orders incomplete. After they did that, I complained to corporate management and never went back again. This place closed up and has gone out of business It's a tough industry to succeed in

It's kind of out of the way. It was very busy when we went there. The food was pretty good, but I like other places in town better. The coffee was good though. I would maybe try it again when it's less crowded.

Place is closed and doesn't look like it will be reopening anytime soon. The sign on the window says they will reopen after New Years!

Been here several times and it's not bad--eggs are cooked perfectly and hash browns are well seasoned albeit not quite crispy enough for my liking. Portions aren't huge with the Basic I usually get, but it's enough. Not as good as The Cottage. Comparable to Jenny's.

Food is always delicious! Pleasant, cozy atmosphere, and staff is friendly!
