The Hare Hounds - Spelthorne

We ordered a pizza and a chicken burger along with our drinks at the restaurant. Surprisingly, the pizza was served in a pizza box. When I requested a plate, we were given two paper plates. Fortunately, we had two plates as I had to share the pizza, which had a nice flavor. Unfortunately, the chicken burger I ordered was served in a takeaway box. It consisted of an untoasted white bun with a small piece of chicken on a few pieces of lettuce drenched in mayonnaise. I was not satisfied with the burger and returned it for a refund. The staff member contacted her manager but was unable to authorize the refund. Despite multiple attempts, I was initially not refunded. After asserting myself politely, the £8 refund was finally given to me, and we left the restaurant.

I have known this pub since the 80s, we held my parents 50th wedding anniversary party here. I received a friendly welcome from the girls on the bar. Had a couple more pints of London Pride, on pretty good form as us Camra members say. The roast lamb meal was generous with a good helping of gravy. I thought the carrots were tinned but I could be wrong. The chef asked if I enjoyed the meal and I certainly did. I get the impression the guys here are trying to build the business up and I think they will be successful.

Driven past the pub many times before and as we drove past today kids said they was hungry, so pulled over jumped out ran in asked if they was serving food to be told “yep” and then handed a menu. On quick glance spotted plenty of options for the kids and partner, called the rest of the family in ordered are drinks at the bar passed the menu to my partner who couldn’t decide out of 3 options. Narrowed it down to the sausage and mash! I ordered the steak and kids had sausage meal and cheese burgers! Ordered food came out in reasonable time and tasted amazing! Spoke to the chef after and said to come back for the carvery! Definitely be returning soon! Staff so friendly and good atmosphere in side!

The atmosphere is lively and it's a great pub for watching sports. However, the bar staff lacks good people skills and can be quite abrupt with customers who are not regulars.

Last time i went in the service from the staff was pretty good even tho at the time it was that busy. and they also have a love large garden to sit in with shelter as well in case it rains
