Compadre's Mex Mex Grill - Spartanburg

I was not sure about Mexican lunch buffet and I never had that before. I wanted to take a look before if I would want to decide to order. Those foods looked so great so I had me some rice, refried beans and chicken cheese cream side with a flour tortillas it was soooooo good. I would definitely come back again.

Solid Mexican. Got the street tacos and did fried avocado, carnitas, and pastor for the fillings. Carnitas were a bit overdone IMO but not bad. I liked the pastor the best, and I'm not a huge fan of pastor...so that was the most impressive part. I liked how the onions and cilantro were served on the side so I could go cilantro happy and light on the onions most of the time it's the opposite. My boyfriend and my mom had no complaints about their food either. Service was good (if not a bit overzealous with drink refills but apparently that's a southern thing according to Mom. and the prices were cheap with more than sufficient portions. I'll have to go back next time I'm visiting!

We went here for a quick meal. I had the grilled chicken with veggies on it. It was good for what it was. I also had some black beans and rice it was very tasty. My husband has the combo with 3 things and they are seemed very good. I would go back if I am looking for a quick Mexican meal in Spartanburg.

9 times out of 10 we come here for their lunch buffet. A couple years ago when this place first opened I was skeptical about a Mexican buffet, but they do a great job. Along with burritos, quesadillas, and chimichangas, they also have build your own tacos with an assortment of unique Spanish meats. It is a great lunch for about $10 with the benefit of not having to wait for your food. Onward to the reason that they are getting 4 stars and not 5! We came here for dinner the other night, and I was sadly disappointed. The buffet isn't an option during dinner, which was fine. What isn't fine is that our waitress seemed to forget about us after we told her we needed a few more minutes. It then took forever for us to get our food. This is hard when you're already nearing hangry. The same thing happened when we asked for our checks. I may come back for dinner again sometime, and if the service is different then I would definitely bump their rating up to a 5 star.

What a terrible waste of a gorgeous restaurant. The decor of this restaurant is so wonderful but the food is so bland. The server was cordial enough but the old man delivering the chips and salsa seemed to be out of the loop of things. Not to mention the Elton John playing in the background was a little off putting. Again, beautiful restaurant, but lousy food.
