The Grape D'vine Wine Spirits

The manager, Heidi, was very helpful on the phone and went the extra mile to make a gift order of champagne and local goods paired with it extra special.

Servings are really, really small. Three of us had dinner for $200 without tip. We were still so hungry we went home and ate peanut butter sandwiches. On the plus side the food tasted good and came very quickly. The absurdly small servings have characterized this place ever since it opened many years ago. Now I remember why I never eat here even though I live 5 minutes away.

I really hate to leave a bad review; it makes me sound like a troll. But when I leave a restaurant still hungry, I get a bit hangry. Last Saturday evening, I was served a shockingly overpriced dinner at Grape D'Vine in Sparkill, where minuscule portions were served with dismissive contempt by a haughty overlord, after which we went home and made peanut butter sandwiches because we were still hungry. It cost us $200 (no tip included) for three people. A main course risotto in the $40 range was literally a one-cup serving, like a tiny laboratory sample for calorie research, crouched in the center of a huge white plate. The only good things were accidental virus safety (the place was almost empty on Saturday night), the fairly priced wine, and my delicate stomach reports that their kitchen is very clean. Unfortunately, the server refused to smile even once. What, didn't you like me?

I received a gift card to the Divine Bar in Sparkill for my birthday last summer. I called a few weeks later to make a reservation and was told that it temporarily closed for renovations, but would soon open again. When it was reopened, it temporarily called Cantina. I went there with my gift card and was told that it was under new ownership, but that the previous owner, Joe, still in the wine store next door and would honor the gift card there. It was closed for the night. I finally came to call them to see if they would actually honor the gift card and was said that although Joe is the same guy who issued the gift card and took my friends money, they could not honor it because it was another company. I want to give the owner Joe a chance to answer and make things right.
