The Rose Inn - Southend-on-Sea

This pub has a lot of personality and the staff are friendly. However, there are some issues currently. There are long waits for drinks and I also noticed delays with food. This place really needs more staff, and in this aspect it is not as good as The Old Walnut Tree, another Greene King pub just a mile or two away.

This was a revisit as I had to cancel my initial reservation. My partner, sister, and I were excited for dinner at the Rose Inn, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We arrived early and enjoyed a glass of wine in the garden. However, upon entering the restaurant, we had to wait in line to be seated at the table I had reserved. Once seated, we were not informed how to order food, so we waited for someone to take our order. After some time, I had to inquire at the bar and was told there would be at least an hour wait for food. Despite mentioning my reservation, the response remained the same. Another customer had already left due to the long wait. The waitress's attitude was unhelpful and impolite. I would not return or recommend this place. The price for two wines and a coke was nearly £20. I usually don't write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this instance. I have received multiple emails from the restaurant in recent weeks, but since leaving on Saturday, I have not heard from them. This speaks volumes.

I made a reservation for Sunday lunch, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and we weren't attended to after we were seated. We had to seek out someone to ask a question, and there was a long line at the bar. We were informed there was a 1 hour and 15 minute wait on food, so we decided to leave. It would have been helpful to know about the wait before we sat down with menus.

We took the family here for a spot of lunch today. How have we never been here before?! Food was amazing hot and fresh and the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon.
