Alvaro's Portuguese - Southend-on-Sea

Well i cant praise this restaurant enough, we last visited 9 years ago, why did we leave it so long ! We were made to feeel welcome from the minute we walked through the door, all of our party of seven were full of praise for the food. Well done chef and kitchen team. Front of house team were excellent, giving great advice on food and providing a level of service that a lot of others could learn from. If you have never visited you are missing out. Thank you all for a great evening

I was brought here with the promise of a great meal from a restaurant that has a long legacy around these parts. There was nothing Portuguese about this place. I could have literally taken canned sauce and poured it over various meats and made a better meal. Even the folks who brought me here knew this place was different now. Save your money and use it for the many other restaurants around here.

I went for Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was lacking. The food was decent, but the additional charges for items like bread we didn't order and £20 for vegetables made it very overpriced. My friend ordered a coke, but it was flat. They reluctantly replaced it. I used to dine here frequently when it was under old management, but I won't be returning now.

This restaurant is a wonderful place to dine. The food is fantastic, and the servers are welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is really comfortable, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a carefully prepared meal. You never feel rushed, so you can truly savor your dining experience.
