My wife, son, and I visited this restaurant today. Two girls waited on us. We ordered coffee and drinks to enjoy in the restaurant. We noticed that the white couple in front of us was served in real porcelain cups while we were given paper cups. We couldn't help but wonder why there was a difference. Was it because we are Asian? This kind of treatment raises concerns about racism.

Happy Bean is a cozy café with a welcoming staff. They offer a variety of drinks, light lunch options, and delicious cakes. The menu includes many vegan choices, which are clearly marked with a V on the menu board and labels, although there could be better consistency with this. We had to confirm with the staff that our order was indeed vegan, which can be nerve-wracking in vegetarian cafes. It would be more convenient if all menu items were vegan, considering the abundance of vegan options available at other local cafes like Nest Coffee and Hunter Gatherer, but it's great that Happy Bean offers them at all.
