Bidra med feedbackWe ordered roasted sandwich and mushroom omlette. we were not asked to pay when we ordered. the roasted sandwich was soft and soggy underneath. the hot chocolate was watery. halfway through our eating, a worker asked to pay for our eating. she got pretty pissed when I suggested we end our food first. Maybe we would try without paying. the sticky menus had food stains. not very welcome.
Good option for a fry up, but not a divert value. old school breakfast, order at the theke either for taking or at one of the tables. most of the food traditional breakfast, I had speck, sausage, ei, drilling and black pudding. everything was good, but nothing to write.
There's lots to like about Annies. There's a cosy feel as soon as you enter. The staff are chatty and friendly. And there is upbeat radio music on the go.It feels like a traditional workers cafe. Portions are large and tasty, offering good value for...money. We compared it with Woolston Cafe which we visited last week (but which doesn't appear to be on Tripadvisor), and we felt there's a few things Woolston Cafe do better or differently. Woolston Cafe offers a wider range of foods. There's a calmer, quieter atmosphere, and it feels a little more upmarket. I think these things are swings and roundabouts, and while Woolston Cafe may offer a greater range of food, Annies is better value and more homely. Each to their own.
Beautifully cooked and in good time. Tasty and filling -as others have commented everything a greasy spoon should be'. Great variety of foods, good value for money too. Friendly and speedy service, and much quicker than the local competition at getting it on the table....Now, you're waiting for the but cause you know there's one coming..... Ok. This would be my breakfast café of choice but for one major issue -the lingering and very strong smell of fried food you take with you when you leave. The place is small, the seating is back to back (comfortable though) and the ceiling is low. This adds up to very strong odour of fried food and this for me spoiled the experience. I had to wash every item of clothing I wore to breakfast. Now if this is not an issue for you then please go and enjoy a really good value and tasty meal, because you will certainly get one. But, if the prospect of coming away smelling strongly of fried bacon and sausages (because you will) then you might want to choose another venue. I've gone with the best compromise -get take aways!
What can I say?! Amazing breakfasts, brilliant service, massive portions and such good value. It will take something to beat this place! And if you can drag yourself away from the breakfast menu, you have to try one of their enormous omelettes!
