Bidra med feedbackWe dined as a group of 8 in this conveniently located restaurant in this lovely area of South Yarra as we were staying up the road at the Lyall Hotel and wanted to eat locally with our friends. We were seated in a lovely area at the back of the restaurant and found the tables and chairs to be spacious and comfortable. The food/menu selection was very good and I believe every one of our diners was happy with their choice of meals. I particularly enjoyed the King George Whiting which was cooked to perfection and very delicious, as well the green vegetables which arrived were crunchy and flavoursome and the chips crunchy, hot and nice. We all felt the prices of the meals represented good value for $. Hopefully we will return on another occasion, the room has a nice ambience, not too formal, not too casual. Oh and yes the owner is certainly a character but in a good way, trying to ensure that everybody in the restaurant is enjoying a good time.
A great experience, looking for something to do so booked Sunday lunch. Very friendly and efficient welcome and a great menu.Restaurant is very well presented and the service is attentive and informed. Wine list is comprehensive with a good selection available by the glass.Service was well paced, and clearance of table timely. While there was a Sunday roast available which looked inviting we chose seafood options all of which were great. Canadian scallops, Queensland prawns and very reasonably priced sides made the lunch both enjoyable and memorable. We will return
This local restaurant arrived about two years ago but it wasn't until last week that we tried it for the first time after a neighbour mentioned that Dennis Hagger was running it - we had very fond memories of meals at Hagger's in town too many years ago to be sure exactly when.We were running late but I quick phone call put my mind at rest as we were told to "don't worry, just turn up when you can, your table will be here".The menu has a very attractive selection of dishes, all of our party were torn over several choices. All our food was pretty to look at, tasty and generous so full marks.Service was very good and of course Dennis is a fabulous host making sure he connects with everyone at a table in some small way.Wine list was a good size and included some old friends so I was happy as were our guests. The restaurant itself is well laid out with plenty of space and not so noisy like some places - I do prefer to be able to hear what people are saying. There are several pieces of furniture which we were told by a proud waitress were designed and made by the boss himself. Mr. Hagger is obviously a multi-talented person. All in all a very enjoyable dinner.
In an environment today where small tables are crammed together in minimalist style to maximise the diners per square foot I have found this magnificent restaurant 25 Toorak Road or 'Haggers' What a breath of fresh air!A charming place with an equally charming host and staff and it is how dining out is truly meant to beThe food is amazing but so many other venues offer that alsoWhat sets 25 Toorak apart is its elegant French style decor. Beautiful large tables and space in between that you can take your loved one or friends and feel it's a very private affair. Dennis the host is very engaging but also an astute operator and adeptly engages in conversation or leaves you with just the intimacy of you and your partner depending on the situationThe staff are well trained and attentive without being obtrusiveI love this place and I am very well versed in fine dining As something different we went to the famed Vue De Monde last week at 3 times the price and a view that you take in for a short time and seriously I would prefer 25 Toorak Road on any day for any occasion. If you're after a beautiful elegant romantic dining experience with amazing food and presentation you simply can't go past this wonderful restaurant.
First time recommended by our friends. Good wine list great recommendation by owner good price and a nice drop. I enjoyed my meal my wife felt hers was average our friends once again thought it was a nice meal one had the scampi which while tasty was a little on the small side. My veal was lovely. Good value as sides are included with mains. Lovely ambience and big tables which is a refreshing change. The owner is hands on and very demonstrative which some might find a little off putting, for me however I like a little bit of theatre when I go out. I would recommend and will return.
