Bidra med feedbackWe visited the restaurant for Saturday lunch. I read so many good reviews about it, we were really looking forward to a meal in the Moat. Unfortunately it was a massive disappointment, for the start to finish. The food was just awful, my husband ordered fish and chips. The fish was extremely oily and just tasteless, he felt sick after eating a portion of it and the chips were undone. I ordered duck breast and truffle and parmesan chips. Shame no one asked me how I wanted it done as it arrived quite **** and I didn't enjoy it. It was blant, there was not enough sauce to add any taste to it, just two small dots. Didn't eat even half of it. Truffle and parmesan chips well I couldn't find any truffle and it was so little parmesan on them you could barely see it. Again undercooked. Staff didn't ask us even ones how we liked our food. We tried to get their attention to get the bill so we could leave and get some food elsewhere (no luck here). At the end we had to leave the table and pay at the till and even then no one asked us how we enjoyed the meal. It is such a shame. Beautiful place, but the food was just awful and the service needs improvement. There was a baby show and wedding happening the same day so maybe that's the reason why it was so bad for us but still I was a paying customer and the standard should be the same for everyone. I will never be back.
This was a beautiful meal, lots to choose from and incredible service! All food was delicious and quick service. Extensive wine list/drinks options. They also change the menu regularly.
Amazing afternoon tea for Mothers day weekend. Faultless customer service from booking through to paying. Food was great and waiting team were attentive. Special shout out to one of the staff who went the extra mile to find some strawberry jam. Will definitely be back.
We had a fantastic evening at the Moat House. The food was just divine and the customer service impeccable. The chef made a bespoke dish for me due to my allergies and preferences. We were blown away by the cuisine as always and enjoyed another really special evening. There was a lovely atmosphere in the Orangery with several birthdays and lots of happy diners. Still our favourite restaurant : Thank you to all the team xx
Surprised not to see better reviews here. We booked the Moat House hotel for a stop off when travelling down from Scotland back to Somerset. The hotel is a few minutes off the M6 and makes a bit of a change from a travel lodge etc if you want a break. Anyway, the Orangery Restaurant is part of the hotel and is really, really good. Like, properly good. We just had a three course meal preceded by beautiful home made bread, whipped butter and amuse bouche. Definitely not what I expected to find 5 minutes from the motorway. Seriously, if you are travelling up/down the M6 you really should try this place. The surroundings are maybe a little old fashioned, but not in a bad way, and the food, wine and service was excellent.
