Nossa Aldeia Bakery - South River

Beautiful small café type of place! Enjoy a late lunch and everything I ordered was fantastic! Pleasantly surprised how cozy this place is and how good the food is.

Although I live in California, I come to visit NJ annually family every Easter. When I'm here, I'm trying to find some time to sneak a car to the bakery to get some baked goods. I was lucky this year and had a chance to stop. You have pretty good Portuguese baked goods here. I chose a few things to try and was not disappointed. As you can see below, I got some egg tarts, a tart I think she said was like a custard tart, a piece of chocolate cake, a piece of napolean, and 3 meat cakes, I know that a chicken and a beef was, I think. I honestly don't know the egg-tarts were really good!! The other tart I'll call a Custard tart was also very good. I honestly couldn't choose a favorite between the two. The slice of chocolate cake was too heavy and sickly sweet. I had mistakenly thought it was a chocolate mousse cake. But that's probably my fault because I couldn't see very well. Unbelievable I ordered it anyway because I was curious. The chocolate napolean was very good! I think they're wearing a white version, but I don't remember. Next time, I'll make a picture. The meat cakes were okay, but a bit on the dry side. The only reason I'm 't Rate 5 stars because they don't have tags with names or prices on one of the items in the ad cases. I had to ask the girl what every item was. But the young girl who helped was very pleasant and did not think of asking so many questions. Will definitely come back here when I visit NJ. If they want to read reviews and make improvements, that would be my first recommendation. Please highlight your products!!

Delicious Natillas and great service! Beautiful small Portuguese bakery, which also serves hot dishes.

Great little bakery/restaurant. I usually just stop in for a coffee but today my girlfriend ordered a cappuccino, ham and cheese sandwich, and a pastry. The coffee is always fantastic and the food was just as excellent! A great spot for a quick bite and the best place for espresso in the area.

The pastries were always great. Just like at home. I like this better than the same from Newark NJ
