Bidra med feedbackI have to say that I believe the owner and main chef of this restaurant are wonderful. The food may be a bit quirky, but it is very tasty and you can tell that they put a lot of effort into it. Despite some reviews calling the place 'strange', 'tired', 'dated', and 'like a charity shop', I personally find its uniqueness charming, especially since they support local artists by selling their products. The menu is extensive and the food is always delicious, hot, and made with passion. However, the wait staff are a bit scatterbrained and can be a bit comical. They often forget orders or make mistakes, which can be frustrating. But if you have patience, the food is worth the wait. The restaurant offers a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options, and the owner/chef is a kind person who puts in a lot of effort. Overall, despite the quirks, it is a great place to visit for a tasty meal in a beautiful setting.
We selected this restaurant for an Afternoon Tea experience which was a gift from our son and daughter-in-law through Buy a Gift. We had a great time enjoying our afternoon tea, with generous servings of sandwiches and cakes, as well as a large pot of tea. The homemade scones were delicious, and we loved the variety of fillings in the sandwiches. The cozy decor and handmade crafts added to the charm, and we even bought an early Christmas present. The staff, who were all very pleasant ladies, made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you once again, we will definitely be returning.
We recently visited this amazing tea room for an afternoon tea and were blown away by the experience. The selection of teas available was impressive and the sandwiches, cakes, and scones provided were not only plentiful but also top-quality. If you can't finish it all, the staff will kindly pack it up for you to take home. The staff were incredibly welcoming, with a special shoutout to Natalia who made our visit extra enjoyable. Having tried many afternoon teas in the past, we can confidently say that The ARTea is one of the best. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Went at 1.30pm and sat at a table albeit saying 'reserved from 2.30 ' but only wanted tea and some cake so thought it would be okay, wasn 't planning on staying long. Took 10 minutes to get the attention of member of staff for a menu. Was then approached by owner saying they were backed up in the kitchen so probably it 'll take longer than 2.30 for food and asked me to move to another table (no chance for me to explain). Member of staff showed me to the little table in a noisy area right by the drafty door entrance and till. So I left, disappointed, with no tea or cake.
I emailed to request one fussy eater afternoon tea and asked if they could provide plain cheese, cheese and tomato or cucumber sandwiches on plain white bread and had an email back to confirm I also ordered one gluten free tea. The Gluten free tea was poor I appreciate that GF bread is smaller slices but if you are going to offer a GF option then the sandwiches need to be of normal human people size not cut so small that you feel that you are at a dolls tea party the majority of each sandwich was crust and so small every sandwich tasted the same well to be honest had no taste. just because you maybe make two sandwiches per normal tea if the bread is small you need 3 per GF Tea to make them normal sandwiches and as for the cake the brownie was just a tiny piece of crust and there was one piece of cake that was just so wet and sticky it was inedible. As we were having tea at 12:30 we had eaten nothing else beforehand. Mum had the GF Afternoon tea and was poorly all afternoon with terrible tummy ache. There was obviously an element of the tea that had been contaminated. In her case as she is Gluten intolerant it was uncomfortable but not serious. If you are Celiac then I would take care of eating here. As I say for the fussy tea I specifically asked for a very plain cheddar cheese sandwich on white bread I was happy for it to contain tomato or cucumber I received a sandwich that was made of seeded bread containing the thinnest piece of cheese I had ever seen I could not even taste it, it was so thin and it also contained grapes it was awful the other had the same thin pre-packed cheese with some mustard or chutney not at all what I asked for. The overriding taste with them all was awful cheep spread So little filling was in the sandwiches that when they cut them into small pieces. I had at least 3 sandwiches that were just bread and butter. It took ages to order our drinks when they came, we were told that they would be back later to top them up but never came. The scones were nice although they need to invest in proper butter not just cheap spread. The tea came and the Tea cosy's and tea pots were filthy not just stained not that stained is acceptable. The cost of this was £36 for me and mum and honestly it was not worth half I really don't understand how hard it is to make a basic cheese sandwich with Propper cheese. I recommended this to friends as I have eaten here in the past and it was nice but this was embarrassing. What is a real shame is when I mentioned this to a friend they pointed me to trip advisor and these issues we had are similar to those that have been mentioned on here since at least the beginning of last year and reading the reply's from the café instead of addressing them and growing the business they prefer to tell their clients that they are wrong and make excuses. Will recommend no longer or return myself.
