Bidra med feedbackI used to live in the area and this pub is up there among the great. Food, real ale, wonderful owners. I cannot wait to visit again one day.
We decided to visit after passing many times. Had seen that the variety of drinks on offer was very good. Parked up on the car park at the side. A bit awkward turning in as we had a car close behind and had to shoot past to turn round and come back. As no street lights it’s hard to see in the dark. However got into the pub and then realised they did not take card. This restricted what we could order so drinks only. A great selection of cask ale, gin, bottled beers and cider on offer and the food menu was very reasonable in price and had a good selection. Was just sad they did not take card hence the rating as we did not get to experience the food which did smell good. The decor is traditional and some may say dated however the staff were friendly and welcoming. I understand that the pub was up for sale and recently been sold. As I did not know it before then all I can judge is now. All I would suggest is the ladies toilet need updating and locks adding to the doors. A family friendly pub and is obviously loved by the locals and a step back in time. However anyone visiting make sure you have cash on you otherwise it will be drinks only and a short visit.
Conveniently opposite the train station this pub is very old fashioned think run down genteel style but sparkling clean. Dog friendly, walker friendly, good pub grub including their own famous pasties. Lovely friendly staff. No frills instant coffee served in mugs but plenty of soft drinks, spirits and speciality ales. Piano in the corner and board games. A rare gem.
This basic old charming pub has a well kept range of real ales, some brewed on site. Friendly service, food is traditional British, huge portions and very good value. Don't be put off by the shabby exterior; this is a gem of a place.
This pub is exceptional. It's about the beer a warm hospitality unmatched anywhere. Becoming a weekly trip and never disappointed by the quality of the micro brewery here and the range of guest beers. Nice ambience not too noisy and lovely bar staff. The owners have created maintained something truly unique but remember it's all about the the beer here. Food is all homemade and unlike anything elsewhere filling tasty. Great place unless you really like noisy rooms with electric pumps and sanitised fatty food in which case don't bother!
