Bidra med feedbackThe restaurant made the decision to forgo using the helipad and opted for a more traditional approach, arriving by car. This allowed guests to slowly make their way to the charming old landhouse, nestled in a peaceful setting surrounded by stunning gardens and landscapes, with picturesque views of Windere.
Dining at Holbeck Ghyll was enjoyable and satisfying, but there was room for improvement to elevate it to a higher level. For instance, the turbot was delicious, but the beetroot accompanying it could have been diced into smaller pieces to complement the fish better.
We went to this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night and were surprised to find it almost empty at 8pm. The staff seemed untrained and the food was amateurish. We paid £75 per person for a 5-course tasting menu with drinks, but found the experience to be highly disappointing. This is definitely not a fine dining establishment. Despite hoping that the negative reviews were exaggerated, it is clear that they are accurate. If you still choose to dine here, do so at your own risk.
This restaurant is a disaster! From the misspelled menu item "isle of right tomato’s" to the tasteless food to the rude waitress. The view is nice, but the turbot was unseasoned and tiny, the crab was chewy, the beef was overcooked, and the only decent thing was the dessert. And all of this for a hefty price of £75 plus service charge! You can find much better value at other places.
I stayed at Holbeck Ghyll for 3 nights during a business trip and had a wonderful experience. The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I especially want to mention Tom who was excellent. The Buttermere room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, making it a great base even in bad weather. The food was delicious and I highly recommend dining here. I will definitely be returning in the future.
