Dee's Place Glenview - South Elgin

The food was terrible and especially for the price. The mac and cheese was orange versus yellow and wasn't fresh. It almost seems to be curdled. The greens tasted canned. They charge you per side versus having a dinner plate. I also ordered the shrimp which came with seven shrimp and I paid over $10 for it. Mind you, they weren't even jumbo shrimp. When I asked the cashier how many ribs came in the rib tip she wasn't able to tell me. I asked her do you guys sell by the pound she said no. If you're selling a rib tip dinner I would think that would include sides, but it didn't. We waited 30 minutes to receive our food. I have been to other soul food restaurants and this one is at the bottom of my list. It's unfortunate because the restaurant is very clean and decorated nicely, but food should speak for itself. I was very unhappy with my purchase and I spent $70. It was my first and last time going there. I hope this place improves in their quality and I wish them the best in their future endeavors.

Incredible soul food. I've gotten carry outs from Dee's Place twice, and I had the fried chicken dinner on both occasions. Best fried chicken in the area hands down. The sides and desserts were delicious as well (mac n cheese, candied yams, cole slaw, banana pudding, and peach cobbler). I'm excited to return and work my way through the menu!

Talk about a hidden gem!!!! This place is an absolute find.....the owners were great, the place itself was great, with a great atmosphere, and the food my guy.....the food was so good that mid-way through the meal I was already planning the next trip in my head....lbvs The oxtails were outstanding with the red beans and rice. The beef ribs were also banging (my wife got those but of course I went in).....if you take my advice and go here, there will be plenty of time to thank me later!!!!!

Great cozy and casual atmosphere, waitress was very attentive and helpful, the owner came over to our table and couldn’t have been more friendly and lovely! Delicious food, fresh, hot and very flavorful. Definitely give Dee’s a try, you won’t be sorry!

What a great find! I couldn’t decide between pork or beef ribs so, I ordered both. I preferred the pork because they were smoky and delicious. I still really enjoyed the texture and flavor of the glistening beef ribs. Veggie options too for all you vegheads.
