Bidra med feedbackI had a great traditional pub lunch at a friendly local pub. It was nice to see the Square bustling with activity again and the food was delicious. The menu had a wide variety of options, from sandwiches to jacket potatoes to burgers and more. I will definitely be returning.
My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch on New Year's Eve and what a treat it was! The restaurant had cozy surroundings and we received the warmest welcome from the owner and bar staff. The Sunday menu offered great value for money and the service was both professional and personal. The portion sizes were perfect, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely 3-course meal accompanied by a delicious Thatchers Dry and Malbec. Our starters of duck spring rolls and lamb samosas were just the right amount and cooked to perfection. The roast beef and roast pork were simply delicious, with melt-in-the-mouth pork crackling and extra tasty gravy. For dessert, we indulged in After Eight cheesecake and Strawberry Cream Tea, which was a delightful creation of sponge, mousse, jelly, cream, and scone. To top it off, we enjoyed a decent Americano to complete our flawless meal. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to others and will be returning. The experience of the chef (who is also the owner) really shone through and we give our highest compliments to her.
We were warmly welcomed at this restaurant and seated at a cozy table away from the bar. The staff provided excellent, friendly, and polite service throughout our meal. The food was beautifully presented, hot, and delicious. The desserts were particularly impressive, as they were made in-house and not just bought in bulk. We tried three different desserts and they were all delicious, especially the lemon baked cheesecake with meringue. Overall, we had a lovely evening at a very reasonable price. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
That bloke Sebastian knows how to clean the dishes 100% can guarantee my left elbow on that. Great location, easy access and delicous munch.
We were looking for a nice country pub half way between Hertford and Ely to meet up with friends. I found the Square Compasses online and the reviews looked good. We had a lovely Sunday lunch today. The food was excellent, quick service and the staff were really friendly, all at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back and would absolutely recommend. Thank you Hans and colleagues for making us so welcome :
