Bidra med feedbackThe Flavors Food Truck has taken a leap of faith by setting up near the Simsbury Historical Society every Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If the thought of tropical Caribbean cuisine interests you, zip on over for some very good j chicken, beef or chicken patties, empanadas, plantains, mac and cheese, Spanish rice, a slew of sandwiches, tropical juices and frozen coladas. Your hosts will be Mike and Dee and I'll bet you a nickel they'll be the sweetest people you've meet all month. Mike is the front counter gent, Dee does the cooking and we had such a wonderful time shooting the breeze with them. We split a terrific chicken empanada as a starter just $4) and it was flaky and juicy and just freaking great. My wife went for a Grilled Chicken Sandwich $10) -a huge portion of chicken on a roll with tomato and field greens. I went for a Caribbean Platter meat and Spanish Rice and four Sweet Plantains). I got the large size $17) with spicy j pork. It was awesome! The rice was very good served with Jamaican style peas and olives, the four sweet plantains were excellent, and so was the shredded j pork. Half the portion was plenty for me. So, when I consider the quality, the value, and the customer service, it's hard to find any faults at all. Thanks Mike and Dee for a great meal that served nicely to kick off our pre-Hurricane Henri weekend. Please go support these two sweet people and the labor of love they create for your dining pleasure.
My wife and I stopped here today on a whim during a long bike ride and it was great. We took it to go and ate at the nearby Flower Bridge park. I got the roasted beef sandwich and my wife had pulled chicken. Both looked so beautiful, the lovely ladies nearby asked us where we got it. I also got the rice beans, which were cooked perfect. My wife had the lemonade with strawberry that seemed pricey, but it was very good. They take Apple Pay Google Pay and all sorts of stuff, so great if you are out with only your phone. Bottles of water too.
Located in the parking lot behind the Simsbury Historical Society ...I had the good fortune of meeting Mike one of the food truck owners. He was kind super friendly and a helpful guide to his delicious food. My heritage is about as far as you can get from Caribbean. I thoroughly enjoyed the j pork, rice and beans, and sweet plantains. I didn't expect to like the plantains so I was surprised that they were very good. The j pork had a hint of heat and excellent flavor. The prices are reasonable especially considering the high quality food. There are café tables and chairs to use and it's quite behind the historical society. I will definitely be back.
We just had our first meal at Flavors and it won’t be our last! Mike knows how to sell it and Dee knows how to cook it. The mild j pork was amazing. It had the perfect flavor I didn’t even know I was looking for. Complimented with the fried sweet plantains and a big serving of yellow rice, i couldn’t have asked for anything more. I left full and satisfied and couldn’t stop talking about it on the ride home. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something new. Can’t beat the food truck vibe with people like Mike and Dee behind the counter. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!
I actually enjoyed the food and service, excellent area very close to my home. The workers are always very friendly. Highly recommended.
