Black Bear Diner - Simi Valley

The service at this restaurant is good and the breakfast food is great. The ambiance is quiet and clean. However, be cautious when ordering dinner as our experience was absolutely disgusting. We tried the meatloaf, pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and fish and chips. The meatloaf and pot roast were tasteless, the mashed potatoes were extremely salty, the gravy seemed like it came from a packet, the green beans were swimming in water/oil, the fish was bland, and the tartare sauce was mostly mayo with soggy fries.

I recently dined at Black Bear Diner for the first time this week. The service was excellent, our server was fantastic. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be returning soon!

We used to go there once every couple of months because my son loves it there. However, this last time we went there was a huge cockroach in the floor and the waitress just picked it up and was in her way. Nothing was said to us even though I was the one that spotted it. Then we never got refills on drinks… no one checked on us and it was not a busy day. We spent $110 on 4 people so a bit pricey for service that was non existent and a roach crawling around.

Wen to have dinner and there was not a single person in the restaurant. A few minutes later there were 4-5 families. We ordered drinks and it took the waitress 45 minutes to come back and take our order. Apparently she was the only server on a Saturday night. By the time we got our food it was barely warm. I don't know if this place is close to going out of business but the management needs to step it up.
