American Diner - Sillingy

Four of us had dinner at halloween night....big atmosphere with hard working staff eating was not great but was expensive for what we got....a meal was sent back twice! good choice of drinks...with/out alcohol and good choice of whispering it was a busy evening. but the presentation and content of the food was bad....and was overtaken, I think of newer gourmetburger cans. that is a scandal as his funny peculiarity.

I took the cesar salad. there is a large amount of processed green salat, 2 kirsch tomaten, 1 poached ei, 5 small pieces huhn and voila. and costs 14 euro. the egg and the 2 cherry tomatoes were the best part of the...salad the rest was tasteless. I will certainly not return to this place.

Stopped off here during a stage of the tour de France and just fancied a burger of some description. The decor was fantastic, the buzz inside was great, a real flavour of America. Waitresses were all dressed in period clothing, all in all on that...front perfect. The food was tasty even if a little small on the portion size but cooked well. The problem we had was flies! I know that it is difficult to control them and usually it doesn't worry me but it does put you off when you're trying to eat and are constantly landing on everything. If they sort out this small problem the place would be fantastic.

The main reason of our visit to American Diner was the TV show The Returned (les revenants) in which this restaurant frequently appears. The look is the same as in the series and it style is typically for the fifties in USA. The quality of...the hamburgers with fresh vegetables are outstanding and they also offer a special hamburger menu The Returner in honour to the TV show.

I like diners was keen to look this place up. Its got great decor and very clean tidy. We arrived at lunchtime it was virtually empty. We ordered 2 milkshakes (only vanilla, choc strawberry), they took 10 mins to arrive, even...though there were 3 staff behind the counter! The shakes were very small compared to any other diner Ive been to not that cold, piled high with cream I didnt want or ask for and chocolate sauce, hardly any icecream in it most disappointedly it didnt taste much of chocolate or anything. For these displeasing drinks we got to pay 6euro 90!!!! 13euros 80, even with the decor I cant see HOW they can justify this. I only went along with this as we were desperate for a sit down after a long walk no other local eateries around. Avoid the milkshakes at all costs!
