Best Ethiopian food in Chicago, coming from someone who’s worked at an Ethiopian restaurant. If you aren’t sure where to start, go with a veggie combo!

We had a wonderful dinner at the Awash Ethiopian restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service is just as good. Is my new favorite Ethiopian restaurant, I highly recommend it. The host and the owner, Mersy was very good and very hospitable to us.

It’s a very nice place, food has a lot of flavor and the service is excellent. It’s a must go restaurant for the experience.

I’ve had Ethiopian food in multiple restaurants in New York, Washington DC, Florida, New Orleans and many more. I always was in an impression that Ethiopian food can never go wrong. But here my experience was just disappointing. Probably it was just that day. The injera was so cold, dry and undercooked. The different curries weren’t fresh, one of them smelled stale. Overall had a very unpleasant experience. For the first time I actually wasted Ethiopian food as I was just not able to eat it.

Great experience all around. Service was excellent — warm hospitality. Food is delicious. Have the coffee served with incense to refresh your soul to close out the meal.
