Pizzeria Pomodore - Sibiu

Rather than go to the restaurants, bars and cafes in Piata Mare, Piata Mica or Strada Nicolae Balcescu, we went down the steps next to Podul Minciunilor and walked a few yards along Strada Ocnei to get to Pizzeria Pomodore. On a busy Friday afternoon...when there were both the Artmania rock festival and a rally car meeting in the centre of town, we were rewarded with good pizza at much cheaper prices and without having to wait to be seated, to have our order taken or to be served. I had a pizza with fresh spinach, tomatoes and garlic (not on the menu on their website, which is shorter than the actual menu in the restaurant) and my partner had a pizza vulcan with spicy salami, fresh mushrooms, red onion and a fried egg. Both were filling and tasty, the sauce being better than the usual diluted ketchup that many Romanian pizzeria use, the bases being thinner and crispier than the norm here and the cheese was not too salty either. All in all, the pizzas were pretty good, the prices were much less than the tourist trap places with terraces outside and the service was good too -all for walking a couple of hundred yards.

Just down from the Bridge of Liars in Sibiu, this family-run restaurant/takeaway is unassuming but do not judge a book by ut's cover!! We done out rarely in Romania but the pizzas here are beautiful. If you want to fill your boots with nice carbs...then look no further... Lovely owner about as hot on English as I am with Romanian but read menu, point, eat and pay. We had Tuna and Spinach Pizzas and my daughter's choice of nectar (Kiwi Prigat) plus a Blonde Beer. These girls know what they're doing with a Pizza, modest prices. Do it. Do it NOW!!

The service was lovely. We had pizza with gorgonzola and rocula and it was very tasty! We absolutely loved it!

It's my first pizza in Romania so I can't compare it with other pizzas I had here but overall it was ok. I had many better pizzas. I chose a pizza with pepperoni and it was spicy as I like it but the dough was...a bit undercooked and the tomato sauce and cheese were ok. Maybe I had too high expectations after reading others' reviews.

Location is very close to the Podul Minciunilor and is nice and clean. We had some pizza, they were good, I remembered the ones I ate in Italy. Prices are low, I totally recomend this place !
