Bidra med feedbackWe went for a takeaway tonight. We couldn't fault any of the 3 meals we had and the coconut rice was to die for. Such a lovely host, we'll definitely be back and can highly recommend
My boyfriend and I popped in last night (a Saturday for the first time, we didn’t have a reservation but were warmly greeted and immediately seated at a nice table. The restaurant has lovely homey decor and we both instantly felt comfortable there. There was a lady and a gentleman working who were friendly, professional and had a lovely manner which felt un rushed in the best way, i.e they give you plenty of time to look at the menu (which has a surprisingly large amount of choice! without feeling pressured into panic ordering which is what normally happens for me at other restaurants We ordered the Thai platter for 2 to share to start, then the beef massaman curry, the red duck curry and a sticky rice to share for mains along with a Singha and a glass of Sauvignon it was lovely to see the wines were from Tanners too, a good quality Shrewsbury wine merchant. The starter platter came with barely a wait and was absolutely delicious, chicken skewers with a satay dipping sauce, fish cakes with a sweet chilli dipping sauce, some prawn toast (which was extra specially delicious! , spring rolls and chicken wings. Thoroughly recommended, and I especially enjoyed the little pot of grapes and sliced apple that was a really nice touch! The mains came at the perfect time and were presented on top of a pot with a tealight in to keep the food warm as we ate which is thoughtful, they were both tasty mains and we ate every last bite. Perfect portion sizes too as we left feeling full without being too stuffed. Our bill came to £50 which for two really great courses as well as alcoholic drinks is very reasonable indeed. I’d happily pop back here any time and would recommend it for anyone who likes Thai food
My other half works five days a week in Shrewsbury so we thought we would sort out a date night for a Friday night. We narrowed it down to Castle Thai as we wanted somewhere independent and I could see that it had very good reviews. We weren 't disappointed. I liked that it was small and the decor was welcoming. The hosts were friendly and not 'in your face ' or pressuring us to order too quickly. We ordered the Singha Thai beer which was delicious, shared a chicken skewers with dips for starters, then I had a masamaan beef curry and my other half had a prawn meal. We asked for recommendations for the rices to accompany. The meals were absolutely delicious, full of flavour and not overwhelming. The portion sizes I felt were just right. Unfortunately, they do not offer desserts but have a good selection of coffees available to finish the evening. Overall we would definitely visit again. Perfect for couples friends groups. Very intimate and welcoming feel, and nice to support an independent authentic business.
It’s a very small authentic Thai restaurant. The food was delicious. The service was lovely, they really care and their smiles at the end of our meal when we complimented them made my night! We all enjoyed the mixed starter to share and then each of us had a different curry meal all great.
We saw this place when we first arrived in Shrewsbury, but didn't make it there for dinner until our last night. When we looked at the menu, all the wonderful offerings, we realized what a lot we were going to miss by only eating there once. So, we made the best of it. We shared an appetizer, this crunchy little chicken pocket with a delicious sauce #8, I forget the name), and the house special fried rice, and a coconut milk curry. The sauce was delicious. Everything was beautifully cooked. When we come back to Shrewsbury, this is the first place we will go. We liked the ambience, and the service could not have been better.
