The Balcony Restaurant and Bar

Travelled from Newcastle for a Sunday lunch somewhere nice. Ended up here. Wish we didn't. Ordered schnitzels with garlic cream, avocado and cheese with prawns. Chicken was dry, garlic cream was like a little drop and the 2 prawns were put on top, cold and with the head and tail still on. Would want to improve before I returned.

I typically only write positive reviews as I don't like to be negative. However, this review is for the chef, the seafood buyer, and the owner at the front of house. The crab fritters we shared were undercooked and lacked flavor and crab. They looked good but that's where the positives end. The seafood entree we shared also looked good but was not tasty. Chef, please prioritize quality over quantity. Everything tasted like it was just thawed, lacking flavor. The calamari was bland and rubbery, served on some kind of green slime. The mussels were chewy and seemed thawed as well. The only good thing was the oysters. The sauces tasted like they were bought for price, not flavor. I could go on, but in short, the food was really bad. On a positive note, the view was amazing and the staff was kind, young, and attentive. Please taste the food before serving it. We eat with our eyes, but we want to come back satisfied in our bellies.

Great vibe ,great food awesome beach views. What makes this place stand out is the staff. They care ,incredibly friendly and helpful. They have scooped the pool of good happy people all working in the one place . They made me happy just being there. I would highly recommend. Sea food platter for 2 sensational

Made a quick lunch stop trough our way home to Sydney from Hunter valley. Absolutely fantastic food and amazing view. Recommend the fish and calamari.

This restaurant is a fantastic choice for dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bar offers a wide selection of drinks. Even though we visited on a busy Friday night, we were still able to relax and take in the breathtaking view of Shelly beach and the waves. The portions of food were massive and came with delicious salads. I highly recommend this place.
