Happy Dragon Express - Shelburne

I haven't had an amazing chinese food until (except for down on Spadina) I moved up here to Shelburne. Everything I've ate was great even the Chop Suey that is perfectly seasoned there is no need for any soy sauce on it. The Wonton soup is out of this world especially with all the added veggies. It really does make that broth shine on the taste buds. The char su (aka bbq pork) is amazing. It reminds me of my youth of going down to Spadina and getting fresh Char Su on the weekends. I hope this char su is made with red bean paste. No artificial red dye taste here. The servings here are huge. Plus it usually lasts us on average 4 days of dinner. Thank to you all at Happy Dragon you definitely take pride in your work!

I had the deep fried chicken and poutine. The chicken was excellent, very juicy and crispy and the portions were big enough it was bursting out of the box. I was let down a little by the poutine which uses melted shredded cheese and the fries needed a bit more salt, but I expected that dish was not their specialty. First time trying. The chicken balls were rock hard and the chicken fried rice was hard and over sauced. The sweet and sour sauce had a lot of seasoning of some sort. The customer service was wonderful, the man at the counter was very friendly. Wouldn’t order again.

Food is not as good as it was when Jeff owned it. In fact it’s …… just not good anymore. Tastes awful. Not cooked. Just not the same. Sorry

I was able to enjoy dinner this evening from here as a guest and it was tasty. I had a spring roll which was rather small and greasy to my liking .. no chicken balls but some long fried chicken type breaded thing that you had to slice which was quite tasty in the place of. The fried rice was well fried rice.
