Guardhouse - Sheffield

Party of 8 just had a great Sunday lunch with 7 of us having the traditional Sunday roast and 1 having fish and chips. The restaurant was not too busy with nice tables laid out in plenty of space , the staff were pleasant and attentive but not being over attentive. The food was very reasonably priced and I must say was the tastiest sunday lunch I have had in years and the gravy was so rich and flavoursome, there was a choice of four meats. The sweet was a very light and tasty lemon meringue with other options available. We will definitely be visiting again.

I was staying in the old barracks hotel below this place and enjoyed a few drinks in here before going to the speedway. It is a lovely quirky pub and the staff were young, pretty and unusual (in a good way)...and it was full of quirky characters...the ideal place for people watching. The selection of beers was really good and obviously spirits and wines too. I returned here after the speedway for a couple more drinks and they were really polite again, even letting me take a couple of drinks to my room in the hotel below. Will definitely stay at the hotel next door again and come here for food.

I booked here for my Christmas Day lunch and will give it full marks. When arriving we were handed a glass of sparkling wine , the tables were very nicely dressed and we were not all ushered in at once, we were booked in in intervals which made it better all round. The food was one hundred percent , I loved the belly pork starter and we all had a liqueur with our cheesecake dessert then we had mince pies and chocolate bon bons. We finished it off with tea and coffee in cups as big as soup bowls. I've had Christmas dinner in some top hotels and paid a fortune but it was never as good as this. Well done to all the staff and chefs , we will be back.

Been here many times and the food is always good, never had a bad meal yet. This Christmas instead of all the hassle of cooking a Christmas dinner we decided to eat out. We chose the Garrison because it is guaranteed good food and value for money. The four of us were made very welcome as usual , the Christmas decorations looked lovely without it being over done and the service was fantastic, well done staff. The tables looked immaculate with the beautiful white tablecloths and centre decoration, all the bookings were spaced out which made it better all round for everyone including the kitchen.. It was very well organised. Now for the food, we all had different starters, I had the smoked salmon pate with salad and toast plus a half of smoke salmon fish, ample portion. My husband had the belly pork and plenty of it, I could have eaten it myself when I saw it. For main I chose the original turkey and all the years I've been eating turkey including cooking my own, this had to be the best, it was soo tender and tasty. The roast potatoes were proper roast potatoes not the froze ones that are rock hard once cooked. Everything on our plates were delicious and good portions including the sea bass and the roast beef and proper gravy mmm I could eat it all again. Our cheesecake desserts were fabulous , we had mince pies and truffles , tea , coffee and orange juice, they didn't skimp on anything. Well done to the chefs too and all who organised the day.
