Bidra med feedbackNice waiter, always stupid to say. A lot of humor. I recommend it.
We stopped for the day in Sete on a cruise stop and found it to be one of our highlights. After a tiring hike to the top of Mont st Clair (well worth the climb might I say) we got the bus into town and decided to find somewhere for a well deserved lunch break. We choose this place because of it's delightful position next to the water and so entered and took a seat. The waiter took our drinks order and when we asked to see the menu, were told there was a board outside. He must have thought we looked confused ,as he asked if we understand French and when we replied just a little,he proceeded to describe a couple of items. We decided on ordering a salad and when it arrived, apart from the vast amount of lettuce was quite tasty and enjoyable. We paid the bill and left a tip but goodness me if I had visited the bathroom before I had paid it would have been a different type of tip along the lines of SORT OUT YOUR DISGUSTING FILTHY BATHROOM !!!! I can honestly say I have never been to a more horrible public bathroom. The first thing was there was no lock and so I had to get my husband to stand outside. There was no toilet paper, the flush was broken with nothing to press so didn't work and there was no soap or anything to dry your hands. If I spoke French I would have attempted to complain but instead we made a very quick exit with a horrible end to what could have been an enjoyable lunch experience.I really do not know how this place stays open with such disgusting facilities and the owners should be ashamed an embarrassed by them.I am sure bleach ,toilet roll, hand wash, paper towels and plumbers are readily available in Sete ,so please invest !!!
We just came back from lunch at the Menestrel never again! After having to wait for about 50 minutes for moules et frittes and tomatoe mozzarella salad, the food finally came. Moule and frittes were okay, but then there 's not much that can go wrong with that. However, the tomatoe mozzarella salad was horrible: One tomatoe in slices, some green lettuce added, no balsamico just a huge amount of oil. But the cheese was the worst: some undefinable yellow cheep mass, definitely no mozzarella, more like cheep cheese analogue for a gouda or a cheddar. When I asked the waitress if this really was mozzarella, she said it was mozzarella (although it clearly wasn 't) and she would simply work here . Such a salad for € 9,80 and the accompanying service (in addition to the long wait) is simply impertinent. The location itself on a ponton maybe nice, but it never compensates for one of the worst restaurant visits we ever had.
Parking in Sete can be difficult but the parking underneath the canal in the middle of town is excellent, not too expensive, easy to access and quite cool. Right outside, as you come up the stairs, is the bar/restaurant Le Menestrel . It has a small barge with tables on the canal serviced from the main restaurant on the other side of the road. Service very good. Food was surprisingly good and the prices cheap. This isn 't fine dining , but it is good food at good prices in a fascinating place. The octopus salad was well worth it!
Le respect du touriste/client de ce bar se mesure à l'insalubrité des lieux ou l'absence de savon et de verrou dans les toilettes. Comment faites-vous pour ne pas avoir honte de votre établissement ?
