Abbey Fisheries - Selby

I rarely eat fish and chips because I'm often disappointed, but I decided to try some here, and I was truly impressed. It was absolutely fantastic! The batter was spot on—crispy and not greasy at all. The chips were cooked to perfection. This is definitely the best fish and chips in Selby and beyond. I won’t be a stranger to this place anymore!

I was very impressed with my visit. The fish was crispy and fresh, while the chips were soft and fluffy, and the presentation was outstanding. However, the staff seemed a bit overly chatty and distracting today. In terms of rating, I would give the food a 9.5/10, the presentation a 9/10, and the customer service a perfect 10/10. As for the price, I’d rate it a 7/10, which I understand given the cost of living crisis and rising prices. Overall, I would give my experience an 8.5/10 and 5 stars!

This place requires a lot of effort to work at; it feels like it’s stuck in the past, around 30 years ago. The organization is shocking and needs a complete overhaul. They should have fish ready—at least five portions at a time—and have sausages prepared, ten at a time. If they could streamline the food preparation process, it would improve service speed and efficiency, leading to increased sales and better organization. The food is good, and the owners are nice, which is why I’m giving it more than one star.
