Tavern On The Creek - Seguin

Fabulous Concept, Falls Short in Execution I loved the concept of this restaurant the rotating menu based on local, fresh ingredients, the farm sourced ingredients, and the ambiance on the creek with the choice of indoor and outdoor dining. But my experience didn't match the expectation. The fig and pear appetizer sounded great in concept but the favors didn't marry and other than the figs, was devoid of flavor. This was a shame because I love the earthy and creamy flavor of goat cheese, as well as the sweetness of pears and crunch of a high quality nut. We tried to sit outdoors by the creek but ended up fishing out flies from two water glasses and my husband's wine glass. When the mosquitoes started biting, we had to move indoors. This was also a disappointment because inside there's no view of the creek, which is nicely landscaped with native plants. Also we couldn't keep an eye on our son who wanted to play. The roasted duck I ordered was also just okay tough and gamey without much flavor, but my husband was very pleased with his burger and fries. Our children had plain pasta. The peanut butter pie was creamy but had no intensity of flavor or sweetness to it. There was no balance between the crust flavor and the chocolate sauce and peanut butter flavor.

We straggled off the interstate and found this gem by pure dumb luck. Beautifull setting for indoor and outdoor dining. Interesting selection of local wines paired with a delightful menu. Excellent service and reasonable prices. Worth a trip for a wonderful evening.

What a great evening spent at Tavern on the Creek! We had a group of about 25 in our party. The staff was really friendly! They reserved the bottom patio for us to eat and that fit our needs perfectly. The food was delicious and very timely. We had about 12 kids with us and they enjoyed playing in the grassy area. Overall, a great experience. Next time we are in Seguin we will definitely come again.

What a lovely surprise on our road trip to the coast! Quality food with a nice variety of menu choices and a fun, local wine list. Great ambiance indoors or out on the patio! Fast and courteous service as well. Definitely worth a stop if on your route or even a little out of your way!

The food is great!! The environment/ambience is amazing!! Quaint and enjoyable!! Would definitely go there again!!!
