The Richmond - Sefton

Booked lunch on Christmas day for a family of party of 22 for 3.30pm. Was seated promptly but our starters came at 5pm. My starter was wild boar terrine not nice, bread very stale. The roast beef main was very poor, the beef was ok but the sprouts were raw, the brocolli was a mush, yorkshire pudding rock hard couldn't cut it , roast potatoes rock hard again could hardly cut in to them, no pigs in blanket. We asked for more gravy which never came. The childrens' meals came last and we were told to be very careful of the very hot plates why were they so hot for children?? whilst waiting for our starters my son bought drinks and put his pint down on the table they had put a number of small tables together in a row to accommodate our party and covered them with paper tablecloths this covered the uneven surface of the tables placed next to each other. Consequently my son had put his pint on the join of 2 tables which were not the same height hidden by the tablecloth) and it fell over pouring all over me, and the table. The waitress came over to clear it up and we explained why it had happened, she said she would give him a half pint!!! if this wasn't bad enough considering we had been waiting by this point about an hour for food which don't forget had been ordered weeks previously, they knew exactly what was ordered she never replaced the drink. By the time I got my main course most of the party had finished. Put a real damper on what should of een a happy, family get together on Christmas day. We paid £69 each for adults 16 of us) so the Richmond took a lot of money of us for a very poor experience, would never go back.

I organised a festive meal for a group of 20, which later turned into a group of 25. We had the best time! The staff were all brilliant and worked very hard. We had a fabulous meal, everything was piping hot and delicious. I'm very grateful, everything ran so smoothly and it was lovely start to Christmas. Very many thanks and best wishes to you all.

We went for a family meal for our 50th wedding anniversary. The food and service were excellent. We were a large party of 14 and nothing was too much trouble. The order was taken, no fuss and the food served with very little waiting. Everyone enjoyed it.

First time visiting. Food was incredible, fast service, piping hot food, huge portions, excellent value for money. Staff warm and welcoming. Had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
