Elliott's Oyster House - Seattle

Very slow service, very expensive restaurant for such slow service . Bar was very slow to have a drink ready as well.

It’s a tourist trap restaurant, but we really expected more based on the reviews. The food was marginal. Scallops were rubbery, risotto was gummy. Fish and chips was below average. Best thing we had was the poke small plate. It turns out that the restaurant adds a 20% service fee to your bill and unlike other restaurants, that 20% goes to the restaurant, not the servers! They claim the servers are paid a percentage of their gross sales, but didn’t say how much. When we were presented our bill our server said “tips aren’t expected but appreciated” which put me in an ambiguous position. I could have walked without adding gratuity, but didn’t want to penalize the server because the service was good. All in all, a unsatisfying dinner for the price.

Great food, great service, nice view. What more to ask? Highly recommended.
