The Goose

The Goose Burger may just be my favorite burger right now! And the coffee is excellent as well. Live that this restaurant is in my neighbourhood.

We thought we would try this place based on positive reviews and the fact that we had seen restaurants struggle at this location over the years. We walked in to the restaurant and saw no staff at the front so we continued through and found a table and sat down. The waitress came to our table and asked why we didn 't have menus. We replied that we seated ourselves as there was no one at the table the front. She replied that the restaurant was fully booked despite the fact that there were no reserved signs on any tables and the restaurant was one quarter full). She was angry in her tone with us and said the host must have been busy seating other people when we arrived. She said there might be another table available right next to the door. She then told me to make way for other people coming though as we left the restaurant. I have never had such an unwelcoming and rude reception at a restaurant. You would think we showed up with a table of twelve and no reservation. It was my husband and myself. Seriously... get over yourselves. You 're not that special.

Got an extra star because they did such a nice renow, made a pigs ear into a silk purse. Went there for lunch on a Friday and had a 1/4 roasted chicken and substituted fries for the kale salad, came with roasted root vegetables. Not really remarkable but ok, fries were good and gravy was nice just chicken was meh compared to a take away chicken from the supermarket. I have to go back for the dinner menu as it has more dished to my taste.

Just read the review by Dan Clapson made me laugh out loud. Was he even at The Goose? This review is so far off the mark it makes you wonder. He should have said fantastic service, excellent food, great menu, fresh inviting decor. Local folks who dine there love this place. Sad, sad, Dan Clapson the uninformed restaurant reviewer needs to get over himself. My rating of Dan Clapson, restaurant critic 1 star.
