Average boiled sausage with bread or potato salat: nothing remarkable. What was instead memorable was to pay for tap water we drunk during our lunch.
Living in Switzerland we are pretty used to the (very low) level of friendliness in Swiss mountain restaurants. That’s why most residents tend to go to more customer friendly alpine resources such as Austria or Italy. However for a day trip, Sattel, only 60 min from home, seemed the right choice. The number of pistes is very small and mostly with drag lifts that I thought were extinct. However this was ok as for one day it was actually fun. But the rudeness of this restaurant staff was beyond believe. First they avoided looking in our direction for 20 min despite us trying to indicate that we were ready to order. Then they reprimanded my son for having opened a tiny 5 ml mustard bag, saying that he wasted it since it was for free. But the best was when after paying a hefty bill, we quickly came back as my daughter said she was thirst. So since we only had credit cards (which is more practical to carry when skiing) my husband asked for a glass of tap water. The same waitress then insisted to see evidence that the water was for the child and not for him! I know, it’s hard to believe.
Really great experience: way more than a typical restaurant on the ski slopes. We enjoyed very tasty Swiss food and the best apple strudel ever!!! Really suggested, also for the food price and the very nice terrace
We walked by during a shiny afternoon and were impressed by the nice building, therefore we reserved a table for dinner on the same evening. We were a little bit earlier than expected and the waitress didn't know how to handle this. So we had to wait outside the main restaurant for a about 10 minutes...okay no problem so far. First we were impressed about the high price levels for the menus on mountain hut like this. After a while we got our table and the waitress was a little bit harsh again and not very friendly, so we didn't felt warmly welcome at all. My wife is vegetarian and didn't find anything suitable on the menu, so she ordererd a mix from appetizers and vegetables. Everytime the waitress had to ask and confirm by the kitchen if that is possible or not... I tried to order a Fondue for myself but this was not allowed : I was informed that you have to be two to order one fondue although it is not written on the menu ! . Okay then, let's go for some meat. The food was good but in terms of the size it looked like in a gourmet restaurant and isn't that what you would expect from a such place in the mountains. Still hungry we have to go for one of the dessert... Meanwhile we were on a balance by about roughly 165 Swiss Francs. No bottle of wine, just two glasses and only one meal with meat, the other vegetarian and two desserts. I asked to pay the bill by VISA and they informed me that they don't accept credit cards!! Come on, this is not a bargain restaurant and they accept only cash. All in all this restaurant is way too overpriced for what they deliver. They probably would like to play in a higher league but struggling with customer-oriented and friendly service. Think over !
Together with some friends we had lunch at this place after a hike to the Hochstuckli. The menu is not complex but fits nicely to the mountain look and feel of this place. Everybody ordered something different and everybody was happy. The waitress was friendly and quick the food was not too expensive (hey! this is Switzerland... .
