Stadtkrug Altstadtbrauhaus - Schwerin

This place is a joke ! Saturday evening, 9:15 …impossible to have a drink: ‘Jetz ist Feierabend ! Wir sind geschlossen’ Official closing time is 11:00pm… you just don’t want to work !

Good food, good beer, and we just had a great time. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. He also went out of his way for us with some questions and requests. We both enjoyed our beer and food and would come back.

We expected a traditional “Brauhaus” with it’s dishes. The first look was very good. We ordered Bierkutscher-Steak and Wildschwein/Hirschbratwurst. After the first bites we were asked by the waitress if the food was ok, and we agreed on the steak, which was actually quite ok. But after a couple of more bites the sausages with the beer-sauce turned out to be way oversalted and therefore uneatable. We reported it to waitress, who said she will check it in the kitchen. After a fee minutes she came back and told us that the food was “Qualitätsensprechend” and therefore nothing to complain. No comment! Place is not recommended and we won’t definitely go there again.

Visited Alstadtbrauhaus while staying in Schwerin for a festival. I was warmly greeted by the host and he spoke English. I ordered the corn-fed chicken schnitzel, beer and pepsi max. It was a great meal and the portion size was huge. Two big pieces of schnitzel. Overall great value and friendly service.

This brewery/restaurant is very traditional German, sevring a variety of pork meat, like schnitzel. They have a small selection of own beer which is OK, but not more than that. The environment is cosy and the service is fine.
