Bidra med feedbackSuper unfriendly staff and service. Would not even give a bowl of water for the dog, although they have dirty empty bowls on the teras. You weren't allowed? The settings could be nice if it wasn't for the motorway crossing over the Moselle. So you've passed the constant humiliation of the cars. Also overpriced. They have Sone type of beach bar and a statue of a pirate standing there that seems completely unused at age and Kitch as hell. In the short term, new management, new staff and new allegations are needed. There are many more beautiful places in the area... a bit of a tourist trap in my opinion...
This place is such a shame. The location is fantastic (under the Moselle) and the restaurant building itself is very beautiful, including the terrace. But it is so much wasted by bad service and simply terrible, disgusting food. I went there with my German girlfriend (I mention it for those who think the restaurant serves good German cuisine just not). She ordered a simple asparagus with ham and sauce Hollandaise, and I ordered potatoes with Kalamar and shrimp. Apart from the fact that we had to wait 50 minutes to get our services (on Tuesday night, at a time when it wasn't many people around) and that I actually got the wrong dish first, I can say for both of us that it was absolutely disgusting (unbelievable, especially to screw up so much with just ham and asparagus). Not to mention the really dirty smell of shrimps. And all this (also a glass of wine and a glass of water) for EUR 35. It's just a shame. In short, just go there to drink and know what you pay for: the location. Never order food there.
If you love German food, convenient setting, great service and I mentioned Great Food, then you will love this place. We love everything that represents real German food and this place fits the bill. We enjoyed it so much that we have extended our stay in the area to partake in the wonderful cuisine of the offer. During our ride we were disappointed that we are not successful in obtaining great food that is easy. There was a time when most German cities had good authentic German food to offer. We didn't find simple times to change. The Zum Fahrturm is a family-run establishment that serves a good wine selection, good food from friendly professional staff at a decent price and of course good beer.
This place will never get a Michelin Star, but the location on the edge of the river and the honest food will make us go back. Not the place to experiment, but the traditional food, like Schnitzel and Steak, were very decent and we didn't regret our choice.
The old ferry tower is the landmark of Schweich, a very picturesque dining venue by the river. It is worth for the river views, and location, but I wouldn't recommend it for the food. While not bad, it is unreasonably priced. Rather stop for a beer on the terrace, and go to eat in the city, which is very close, and has several good value restaurants, or even budget eateries like kebab sellers and bakeries.
