Eggsmart - Scarborough

The scrambled eggs were perfect. You get so much plus the bacon amnd toast. 2 slices I used the strawberry jam. Really enjoyed.

I have to admit the food wasn't that bad, but the service, cleanliness, and disorganization are appalling. Granted, it was really busy. We got seated at a table near the back, where a make-shift cleaning station was set up just outside the washroom. So there's this very hard-working man scraping dirty dishes and stacking them between us and the toilets. This shouldn't be in public, much less beside the toilets. Then a waitress decides to use the empty table next to us to sort cutlery by dumping it all on the table-top. Classy!The food is edible, and very generous portions. My toast was the wrong kind of bread (normally I wouldn't bother with that, but it was rye with carroway seeds -- big yuck at breakfast), and it took 10 minutes to get another order of toast -- which was cold and with the merest touch of butter in the centre. C'mon, screwing up toast??Overall, the restaurant is filthy, the floor is greasy and looks like it hasn't been really cleaned in ages, the serving areas is junky and dirty; I'm glad I didn't get too close a look at the kitchen.I know it's just a breakfast joint, but these sort of things are basic. Given how busy it was, maybe the management just doesn't need to worry about the basics.

There is an Eggsmart closer to our house, and they were really good until they changed management. So we looked farther afield and found this branch. They were friendly, efficient, and amenable to small requests (allergic to melon so they substitute other fruits in their fruit bowl upon request). Their Montreal smoked meat benny is a family favourite, as is their salmon benny. I also like their waffes and french toast. Never disappointed. We have become regulars and that's even more fun because they are sooooo nice!

They are all over the place now. It is possible to keep it healthy if you don't mind watching others eat pancakes, bread and taters. Great place for families!
