Bidra med feedbackNew look with lot of new food items. Very friendly and efficient staff. Food is very warm not like other take out places. Briyani is awesome....will recommend this place.
Amazing value. Great food. Very friendly service. Thank you.
I have tried almost every dish on the menu, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, and I love most of them! The breakfast combo, biryanis and various samosas are especially good. I highly recommend trying the beef kothu roti - it's my personal favorite. The portions are generous so be sure to check before ordering too much. We usually have leftovers for the next day!
Good food but service needs to improve.. Food is good but the service needs to improve. Their prices are not shown anywhere so depending what you order your bill may be a shock.
... And Now For Something Inexpensive, Spicy And Different. E: Select restaurants satisfy one’s craving for a certain type of food. The rare establishment places one in the frame of mind for its food through sight, sound or smell. It is ironic that a small and dingy take out place would act as the latter, but Babu did. The take out shop offers customers North and South Indian meals, vegetarian choices, Indian pastries, Chinese fusion and Sri Lankan food with the emphasis being on the last category’s Thamil subset.<br/ First my favourite of the day, Biriyani, which was a winner. The rice was flavourful and fragrant being replete with spices and vegetables. It looked good, but smelt even better. It tasted congruously. A whole boiled egg sat on top. The Shrimp Masala was rich and delicious. As the name indicates ‘masala’ meaning a spice mixture) the meal was spicy, but not intolerably so. It was agreeable and some of it went on top of my biriyani. There was not a whole lot of shrimp in it, but there were enough. They charge by the loaf for the naan. The naan was fresh and tasty. The Samosa looked deformed, but was delicious. At first they looked dry and unfilled, and to some extent they were so, but the triangles held up pretty well and had a particularly tasty crust. Whatever they mix into the crust keeps the samosas fresh and adds a hint of sweetness. A white onion sauce was slightly odd and overwhelmed by its onion content. On the other hand the traditional, or I should say prevalent, samosa sauce was absent. These were delicious. The chicken tikka was disappointing. They were probably a couple of hours old and did not harbour much taste. Now I know what they do not well. The order cost a relatively inexpensive $17. <br/ The variety of food on display is large. Imagine a full restaurant’s menu behind glass and available in small, medium or large sizes.<br/ <br/ A: Babu is located in the crummiest depths of the most suspect suburb that is Scarborough in the worst kind of eyesore of a commercial plaza. That should keep the rent and food costs low. It also keeps the visual pollution ratio high. <br/ Inside is bereft of seats. Babu operates a take out establishment with wall to wall displays of trays full of hot food at one end and pastries and appetizers at the other. Even towards the end of the lunch hour the queue of compatriots spans the entire length of the store almost finding its tail through the door and outside. This is likely a good indicator of quality, quantity, price or all three. <br/ The menu boards are complemented by hand written signs over the glass display. The overheard menus are grimy and faded.<br/ A dozen employees shuttle food back and forth from the kitchen and pack for customers. It is busy, but kept orderly.<br/ To be clear had I noticed a review below mentioning the word “cockroach” then this review would have been pre empted. That is disgusting. I didn’t even look for the City of Toronto inspection sign. Shame on me.<br/ <br/ T: The number of cars outside and individuals in queue for food inside looks intimidating, but the food is always ready it seems and the line up shuffles along quickly.<br/ The plaza is large and in set so finding parking should not be difficult. The cashier moves fast, one is given his bundle of food and off one goes. They must go through hundreds of Styrofoam containers a day.<br/ <br/ S: The employees are busy and rushed, but seem professional, calm and in control of things. They are abetted by the matter of fact serenity of the customers who evidently are accustomed to the lines and popularity of Babu.<br/ The place needs a good wipe especially the cashier card pad. The sign outside tells only a partial story advertising “pure vegetarian.
