Hǎi さくら Xiā Yí Hǎi （えぞうみ）‐ezoumi‐

My last meal in hokkaido this summer, on a rainy deserted Sunday evening in the center of sapporo and what a great choice! the food was fantastic from seafood (sushi with mountain wasabi and oktopus grilled on a stone in front of them) to lamb to huge (but still tender and tasty) mushroom sensation. the staff was friendly and helpful, they took my attack on the Japanese language with good humor, and spoke enough English to work through the nuances of the specials menu and chat about my time in hokkaido. great place and a great opportunity to finish my trip.

Sapporo's favorite restaurant. amazing snow crabs! friendly, funny workers willing to help a non-Japanese speaker.

Enthusiastic staff and upbeat atmosphere impressed me most. Cool place but a little loud. I think this is the authentic Japanese Izakaya where young people like to gather. Their beef tasted great, but sashimi was just so so.
