Bidra med feedbackCame here for a spot of lunch during a few hours visiting São Vicente. Great choice! The patient staff spoke very good English and coped well with us bumbling foreigners in a busy bakery/cafe setting. My husband had a chicken and cheese toastie and I had a chicken empanada; both were excellent. We also had a HUGE piece of cake each (I had a carrot sort of Swiss roll, unlike any carrot cake I’ve ever eaten before but delicious and so light, whilst my husband had an equally delicious and light pineapple cake).
We visited 6 years ago and visited twice on this holiday and still found the food and service excellent. The prices are some of the cheapest in Madeira. I cannot believe the quality of their delicious sandwiches and cakes. Their special sandwiches are a full meal in themselves. Always a good sign when the majority of the customers are local people having lunch.
This is the place to go in Sau Vicente if you fancy a nice cup of coffee (go for the café com leite), a scrumptious cake or just feel a little peckish. You can eat inside, outside or ‘to go’. Quality of the food and drinks is fine, prices are incredibly low. What’s not to like?
