Bidra med feedbackMy aunt and I stayed for six days. The room was wonderful. All three meals were tasty and well prepared. The host was very kind and accommodated our wishes. We have been to other places, but this one was the best.
We had come to this northeastern part of Fogo island because of the lush vegetation, with coffee-trees and enormous banana-plants. The misty, very humid atmosphere here is very unusual for the Cape Verde 's and we were more reminded of the Laurisilva on La Gomera. Nearby is the island 's second largest settlement, Mosteiros, where we felt like having lunch on this almost day-long tour of the island. The taxi-driver told us to go to 'Christine 's and we were not diappointed. First we sat on a simply furnished terrace, but then went inside, when the lunch arrived. We had waited for a pretty long time, but it was worth it, because all was freshly prepared. My grouper, of which I did have quite a few already, was probably the best grilled fish I tasted on the Cape Verde 's. My wife got an omelette with onions, tomatoes, green peppers and fresh tuna in it. Superb as well. The indoor seating was in a place, which looked the breakfast room for the guesthouse 'Christine 's ', which it also is besides being a restaurant. While waiting we had the chance to have a look at some rooms and they all looked impeccably clean. For Tripadvisor: There is a Mosteiros on the island of São Miguel in the Azores and a Mosteiros on the island of Fogo in the Cape Verde 's. With the 'Christine Pensao Restaurante ', having comments since 2014, it says that it is on the 'Ilha de Fogo, Arcipelago di Cabo Verde ', but is then listed under 'Mosteiros, Sâo Miguel, Portugal '.
We were taking a one day, around the island tour of Fogo when we stopped for lunch at this restaurant in Mosteiros. It is located with a pensao (guesthouse of the same name. We dined outside on a rooftop terrace. Our fish meal was delicious and enormous with plenty of rice and some house specialty beans. The owner/chef was personable and spoke English. We had so much to eat for lunch that we did need to have a thing for dinner that evening. (We looked in at the rooms in the guesthouse while we were there: they looked immaculate.
Puis fris). Séjour génial chez Christine ! Allez-y absolument si vous passez à Mosteiros!
