Gale - Santana

Extremely low level restaurant, kind of road bar for locals. Don’t go there for quality time, food and service. By the way expensive for what you get.

If you find yourself in or near Santana, look no further for dinner. I will also say i’ve never written a food review before but i felt it was necessary. I’ve seeked out the best food on madeira outside of Funchal for the past 10 days and this place deserves a spot high on the list. I had the lapas and seabass with vegetables which was all cooked to perfection. I spoke with Chef Fernandez prior to having my meal and could tell he puts his heart into every dish that leaves his kitchen, it’s not about the money. He chose a wine for me that went great with the meal and I will also include he speaks fantastic english. Possibly the most fresh fish i’ve eaten in Madeira so far. It was a great experience to say the least, there’s a reason why his restaurant has 5 stars.

Had lunch at Restaurant Galé today and can highly recommend it for great quality, authentic, regional food. We weren't massively hungry and opted for small plates, but the fish dishes being served to other diners looked *amazing*. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the chef patron came out to check everything was ok. The price was half what you would pay in similar places in Funchal. What's not to love?

Excellente expérience de goût N'hésitez pas à s'arrêter. Les patrons sont très sympathiques et M. parle un très bon français. Le repas typique de Madère, fait maison. Restaurant en dehors des circuits touristiques.

Molto bene! Abbiamo mangiato riso con pesce e frutti di mare. La porzione è per due persone, tuttavia e troppo grande. Consiglio per tre o quattro persone. La strada per arrivare è abbastanza ripida.
