Café Campesino - Santa Cruz

We stumbled across this place looking for Mexican food in the area, and I'm glad we did. I got the enchiladas verdes. The ingredients were fresh and the sauce was delicious. It felt much lighter than the Mexican fast food I'm used to, as nothing was oily or greasy. I had the horchata as well, which was quite interesting (and a first for me).

Food was pretty tasty, very spicy. Decent portion sizes for the cost. Even though we were the only customers there, the wait was long and multiple orders were wrong. For one, we actually asked that they correct it, but the response was grudging. It's a nice spot to sit outside and eat, but not great for groups as the tables only seat two each.

When it comes to Mexican food, this place makes me feel like my mother has made the food, it is so good, authentic, affordable and honestly quite amazing-they have restaurant-sort dishes, but they have so little space to work, resources best!

We've been here since 2011. The Mole Plate, the Tinga Plate, the Frida Khalo Soup and the Mexican Mocha are all delicious.

To eat one of my favorite places all over San Cruz! Absolutely delicious “Mexican farmhouse” food. Yum.
