Bidra med feedbackClassic tourist trap. If you want excellent, freshly prepared Mexican food continue the 100 ft past this sad buffet to Las Compas Tacos/Taqueria for authentic affordable food. Three Al Pastor tacos and a beer will set you back $135 pesos or $7.25 USA.
We were told to go visit Puerto Aventuras and that this place was a perfect way to enjoy the area without an expensive price tag. Upon reading all the great reviews here we thought it would be perfect. Puerto Aventuras is definitely worth visiting. It's beautiful, the beach is nice (not too crowded, but bring something to sit on, as there's nothing there) and the people are charming. But this so called restaurant absolutely failed to deliver. We arrived for lunch. The buffet had very few real food items. The cochinita pibil was the only thing that tasted ok, in my humble opinion. The kinds drinks were all synthetic (no actual fruit or juice anywhere) and everything else looked SAD (standard american diet), not what I expect in Mexico. There were slices of fresh fruit in the dessert section, but that was probably the only real food there. My aunt ordered a margarita from the bar. She's a tequila connoisseur, yet she could not recognize the brand of tequila offered, which screams of highly questionable quality alcohol. She ended up ordering something else. We would love to visit Puerto Aventuras again, but we're never eating at Palapa Manati again. Maybe it was just plain bad luck, but I'm not taking that chance.
Best daytime deal in PA. Staff are great and speak excellent English, buffet and drinks are awsome deal. Eat and drink( beer ,wine , and highballs) 10 am- 4pm for about $15 cdn!!!
This morning the tropical storm has struck! We fancied breakfast out though, so trotted the 100 yards or so here expecting the buffet $13, or later it's $26 incl open bar! Closes at 1600 . For some reason there is no buffet so we had the cheese ham omelette off the menu. Served with rice fresh toast, butter jam. Delicious! We've called a couple of times before, just for drinks, the music videos are always playing the place just has a lovely feel to it. All the customers in the mornings seem to be the Dolphin Discovery staff, I suspect the bar is owned by DD. They are just setting up the buffet now as we are leaving, it looked a good choice when I had a nose by the other day. Our waitress has always been the lovely Janett, who really can't do enough for us including sorting my wi fi out! Top marks.
The deal looks good, but like the saying goes if its too good to be true, it is. I would rate the food as equal to or worse than school cafeteria food. Workers were nice and cannot fault them for Dolphin Discovery skimping on quality of food. Do yourself a favor and roll the $14 USD into a quality meal somewhere else.
