Ruen Thai - Sankt Leon-Rot

Das Industriegebiet von St. Leon (der eine Ortsteil von St.Leon Rot) liegt um den Bahnhof Rot Malsch an der Haupt Eisenbahnlinie durchs Rheintal und umfasste früher neben einem größeren Gießereibetrieb einige kleinere Kfz Zulieferer und Kfz Betriebe und auf der anderen Seite der Eisenbahnlinie lag das Industriegebiet Malsch in dem sich ein Hersteller einer bekannten Rollstuhlmarke niedergelasssen hat. In den Neunziger Jahren hat sich dieses recht kleine Gebiet plötzlich völlig verändert, als die SAP dort zunächst mit ihrer Drucksachenherstellung und –lager dort hinzog und dadurch in Folge das Gebiet in Richtung St. Leon gewaltig ausbaute. Dort finden sich neben dem immer mehr SAP affinen Umfeld weitere Automobilzulieferer und kleinere Dienstleistungsbetriebe, die dort Fuß fassten. Die Opel straße ist zudem die Zufahrtstraße zum bekannten Golfclub St.Leon Rot, den der SAP Mitgründer Dietmar Hopp ebenfalls damals bauen ließ.   In einem der modernen Zweck Gebäude in dem kleinere Softwarefirmen und Dienstleister ihre Büros haben, hat im Erdgeschoss, über ein paar Treppen zu erreichen, das Ruen Thai Platz gefunden. D.h. der Zugang ist nicht barrierefrei. Aber Parkplätze gibt es an der Straße direkt davor hinreichend wie auch im Sommer einige kleine Tischgruppen auf dem breiten Gehweg  vor dem Restaurant gestellt werden zumindest in den Vorjahren habe ich das gesehen. Ein thailändisch deutsches Paar, sie vorallem in der Küche aktiv, er überwiegend für den Service zuständig, bietet eine thailändisch inspirierte Küche in dem kleinen Restaurant mit ca 40 Plätzen. Die Karte ist gut sortiert von Huhn (Gai),  Ente (Bet), Schwein (Muh), Rind (Nüa), weiter gibt es Tintenfisch (Bla Mück), Tilapia und auch noch etliche Garnelen (Gung) Gerichte. Alles in diversen Zubereitungen mit einigen wenigen anderen Beigaben angeboten klar strukturiert, ob 100% frisch kann ich nicht sagen, aber dass TK genutzt wird, ist anzunehmen möchte ich nicht behaupten wäre aber gut so. Preislich wirkt das Angebot der Karte zunächst relativ hoch kalkuliert, verblüfft aber nicht unverschämt, sondern logisch – sicher eine Folge, dass dies Restaurant außer den Betrieben der Umgebung und damit das Mittagsgeschäft nicht mit Laufkundschaft rechnen kann. Das Ambiente – muss man sagen ist schlicht – oder besser noch schlicht nicht vorhanden – außer einem größeren Aquarium mit hübschen, bunten Schleierschwänzen ist relativ wenig „asiatisch“ oder besonders thailändisch oder vielleicht gerade daher recht typisch – jedoch, da ich außer im Fernsehen gesehene Dokumentationen noch nie  in Thailand war, kann ich mich nur auf die Berichte meines Sohns verlassen, der dort einige Wochen durch das Land fuhr.. Einfache Vierertischgruppen mit  schlichten, zweckmäßigen Holz Stühlen, bunte Tischdecken mit einer einfachen Tischdeko. Es ist sauber – vermutlich nicht klinisch rein. Die Einfachheit ist aber nicht ungemütlich. Mit der Bestellung wird ein sehr einfaches Besteck und Papierserviette mit aufgedeckt.   Service – dafür gilt im wesentlichen beinahe das Gleiche – einfach, schmucklos werden die Karten präsentiert – sauber eingebunden, nicht ganz neu, aber bei Weitem nicht so wie es im Nachfolger des Verblichenen wie hieß es nochmal Portal für dieses Restaurant zu lesen ist – die Bewertungen dort grenzen gefühlt schon bald an Geschäftsschädigung. Das Ruen Thai ist sicher kein Genußtempel, will es auch nicht sein. Es ist kein Super Thai , von denen ich auch ein zwei kenne – auch das will es nicht sein. Aber es ist ein Restaurant mit einem beachtlichen Speisenangebot (das typisch asiatisch von einer immerwährend anderen Kombination einiger relativ weniger Bausteine lebt) – und eine frische Mittagsküche für die umliegenden Betriebe bietet. Mehr sollte man nicht erwarten – aber auch nicht weniger.   Mein Sohn hat das Ruen Thai heute vorgeschlagen, und so treffen wir uns zu Viert Mittags dort. Tatsächlich bietet das Ruen Thai nicht nur die auch im Internet zu findende Karte: http: slash slash  [hidden link] slash Paper  slash EPaperProfile.aspx?id=885d83ec 201c 4283 8442 97a7bdfbec02  weiter eine Mittagskarte mit sehr angenehmen Preisen – diese Woche alles preislich um die 6,50€ (gegenüber der Karte um fast  2 Euro günstiger).  Heute gibt es laut der auf dem Tisch stehenden handgeschriebenen Mittagskarte der  Woche  „Hähnchen mit Basilikum  6,50“ Das hört sich (anders als der Preis) so einfach beschrieben überhaupt nicht so toll an – aber mein Sohn kennt das Gericht und spricht den Wirt darauf an, ob es das Gericht mit der feinen Chilischärfe wäre. Ja – und damit ist es klar, was wir auswählen: das Tagesgericht – Hähnchen mit Basilikum. Nach kurzer Zeit bringt der Wirt die Teller – darauf eine aus einer Schüssel gestürzte große Reis Halbkugel, an die schmiegt sich ein guter Schöpflöffel voll des aus Hähnchenbruststücken, buntem kleingeschnittenen Paprikamix, Zwiebelringen zubereiteten Hauptgerichts und zwischen den appetitlichen Stücken ist mitgebraten/gekochter frischer Basilikum (sieht fast wie Spinat aus), der Namensgeber des Gerichts. Der Chili fällt dagegen optisch nicht groß auf, lässt sich aber schon beim ersten Bissen nicht verleugnen . Eine sehr angenehme, kräftige  aber nicht aufdringliche Schärfe füllt die Mundhöhle – scharf aber ohne schmerz, ein Gaumenkitzel im wahren Wortsinne, den der Reis (der asientypische Rundkorn Klebreis) sehr schön weich, aber nicht breiig gekocht mildert – gute, schmackhafte Küche, deren wesentliche Raffinesse eben in der Einfachheit liegt – nichts Gekünsteltes, kein Schickimicki, klar strukturiert, der Pfiff ist der leichte Schärfekick – ein sinnvoller Akzent. Mein Fazit für vier Personen, mit drei Tagesgerichten, einmal a la carte, Wasser, Apfelsaftschorle, Fanta, Spezi jeweils 0,33 zum Gesamtpreis von total 36,50€ (zzgl. Tipp), Das ergibt im Ergebnis nach Küchenreise :   4 – gerne wieder.          

The St. Leon industrial area (the one part of St.Leon Rot) is located around the Mal Rotsch railway station on the main railway line through the Rhine Valley and earlier included some smaller automotive suppliers and motor vehicles on the other side of the railway line, the Malsch industrial area, where a manufacturer of a well-known wheelchair brand has settled. In the 1990s, this rather small area suddenly changed completely, as SAP initially moved with its production and storage of printing materials and thus expanded the area towards St. Leon enormously. In addition to the increasing SAP Affine environment, there are other automotive suppliers and smaller service companies that have their feet. The Opel road is also the access road to the famous golf club St.Leon Rot, which also built SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp at that time. In one of the modern buildings where smaller software companies and service providers have their offices on the ground floor, the Ruen Thai has found space over a few stairs. This means that access is not barrier-free. But parking is available on the street shortly before enough, as in the summer some small table groups are placed on the wide way in front of the restaurant, at least in earlier years I have seen this. A Thai German couple, active in the kitchen and predominantly responsible for the service, offers Thai inspired cuisine in a small restaurant with about 40 seats. The map is well sorted by chicken (Gai), duck (Bet), pig (Muh), beef (Nüa), further there are Squid (Bla Mück), tilapia and also some shrimp (Gung) dishes. All offered in various preparations with a few other supplements clearly structured whether 100% fresh I can't say but that TK is used, I don't want to say is good, but good. The offer of the card initially has a relatively high price, but is not surprising itself, but logically – a result that this restaurant, apart from the facilities of the surroundings and thus the lunch business, cannot expect from running customers. The ambience – it’s easy to say – or rather simply not present – is relatively little “asian” or especially Thai or perhaps quite typical – in addition to a larger aquarium with pretty, colorful veil tails – but since I was never in Thailand except TV, I can only rely on the reports of my son who went through the country there for a few weeks. Simple four table groups with simple, practical wooden chairs, colorful tablecloths with a simple table decoration. It is clean – probably not clinically pure. Simplicity is not unpleasant. The order reveals a very simple cutlery and paper napkin. Service – essentially the same applies – simply, without jewellery, the cards are presented – cleanly integrated, not completely new, but far away from how it is in the successor of Verbena, as it means to read portal for this restaurant again – the reviews are already in business damage. Ruins Thai is certainly not a pleasure temple, nor will it be. It's not a super Thai, I also know one of them – it doesn't want to be either. But it is a restaurant with a remarkable offer (the typical Asian of a constantly different combination of some relatively few building blocks) – and offers a fresh lunch kitchen for the surrounding farms. You should not expect any more – but not less. My son proposed to the Ruen Thai today, and so we meet there at Viert Mittags. Today, after the handwritten lunch card on the table, there are “Hähnchen mit Basilikum 6,50” That doesn't sound so great (except the price) – but my son knows the court and tells the host whether it was the court with the fine chili sharpness. Yes – and so it is clear what we choose: daily dish – chicken with basil. After a short time, the host brings the plates – on it a large rice hemisphere plunged from a bowl, on which a good bowl full of the main dish of chicken breast pieces, colorful small cut pepper mixture, onion rings and between the appetite pieces is also roasted/cooked fresh basil (see almost like spinach), the name of the farm. The chili, on the other hand, does not notice much, but cannot be denied at the first bite. A very pleasant, strong but not intrusive sharpness fills the oral cavity – sharp, but without pain, a palate glue in the true sense of the word that the rice (the typical round grain Klebreis) is very soft, but not spicy cooked – good, tasty cuisine that my degree for four people, with three daily dishes, once a la carte, water, apple juice choir, fanta, specific 0.33 4 – happy again.

Decent Thai restaurant considering this is quite the middle of nowhere. The pad thai I ordered was really salty, but the taste is OK. No English menu available.
