Bidra med feedbackWe stayed in San Sebastián del Oeste for a day trip from Puerto Vallarta and went here for lunch. The food was great as the service. We had the Plato mix, and our two children had the cattle quesadillas.
We stopped eating at lunch in Los Arcos, but we are told in a very blunt and cold way that they expected a group and come another day. It turned out that it was a happiness of faith and stum led over Fonda Eva Maria Cocina just on the street, right over the entrance of the church. The small dining room was about half full, but the waitress welcomed our party of four in and pointed us to a table near a large window overlooking the city and rising mountains above. The menu has local cuisine and is open daily except Thursday for breakfast and lunch. I had the cheese enchiladas that came on a plate and contained 4 medium-sized enchiladas and a small side salad consisting of chopped salad and Roma tomato (60 pesos). The balance of my group ordered the Machaca plate that no one could finish because there was so much food. The service was efficient, friendly and the waitress answered all my questions about the restaurant and the city. This is a good family rest as there are a number of menu elements for the younger ones, and they also had a lot of high chairs. The prices are very reasonable, the preparation and presentation was excellent and I think this is an excellent choice for your breakfast or lunch while visiting San Sebastian. They only accept cash payments. (The day we were there was the only ATM in the city unoperable, so plan accordingly).

This quaint charmer is a block away from the main square in San Sebastian del Oeste, a mountain town about two hours from Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant served us quickly while making everything fresh for us. I had the mixed platter, so I had a taste of everything. My wife and daughter both had quesadillas. We had a very filling, hot meal for under $300 pesos (about $15 US). Yum.
The big local menudo place on the plaza was out of menudo. I asked a shopkeeper if she new of a menudo source. Some of us are addicted. Well she asked her ten year old daughter to show me La Fonda. OMG, I found heaven onearth and the holy grail of menudo. A huge bowl, lots of tripe, cooked in chile verde and seasoned to perfection.. it is a long drive for a bowl of parts, but is it ever worth it. The dining room is immaculate as well as the kitchen. Two wonderful middle aged ladies on the range.O.K. Menudo, a beer and a good tip, 100 pesos. Oh, 20 pesos for the little girl.
