Bidra med feedbackThis is an unexpected place to find such a popular restaurant. Cheap and cheerful is sometimes a derogatory phase. But here above the site used recently for various film locations one finds simple food served pleasantly and the staff remember ones preferences even when going to eat with varying people. No linen tablecloths here, just: well, good, basic food in a glorious locaiton.
Popped in for lunch, and enjoyed a super tapas meal for two, at this little gem of a restaurant. 5 tapas dishes to share 5 drinks (beers and cokes) total bill: 10 euros Fabulous value for money........ ....Especially when the food was all freshly prepared, from (obviously) very fresh ingredients all delicious, well seasoned tapas treats. The fish was so fresh, with a batter so feather light, it reminded of tempura ! Dining al fresco or inside, the ambience is great, a relaxed vibe, with very lovely traditional decor beautiful tiles...... Pet friendly, they gave our dog a bowl of water too !!! The village is charming, an oasis in the mountains, palm trees galore, hot springs.....well worth a visit and stopping for lunch....... .........Certainly we will visit again and again ! Gracias El Rubio !!!
Small family bar/restaurante with typical authentic local freshly prepared food. Don't go if you want nouvelle cuisine an flashy wine. We live about 30 mins away and took 2 visitors for lunch..Menu del Dia ... and they loved it. It may only be a 1 street village, but there is the spa hotel Baños de Sierra Alhamilla, another restaurant and of course thi one. We had a salad to share with fresh bread, then for our first course, we had mijas, salmonecco, russian salad, main course we chose lomo, fried rabbit with garlic, and bacalao (although there were many more choices): all our meals arrived hot and freshly cooked. For pudding one person had rice pudding while the others had Icecream with chocolate sauce and cream. With a jarrita of local rose wine, water, coffees etc we paid 40 euro including tip. I just love this tiny village, if you're lucky you can spot ostriches and of course there is the spa to visit which is lovely. Out on the street corner is the public thermal hot water spout. There are spectacular views down to Almeria and the coast on a clear day. On the way to the village you can see and visit what remains of the film set for Ridley Scott's film Exodus. Best to visit the village during the week as weekends it is very busy
